There's a bit of a hoo-har erupted about this drama documentary that Channel 4 have made. The drama is about the assisination of President George "dubya" Bush in the autumn of 2007. Seems the texas Republican Party is getting its knickers in a twist about it. While channel 4 maintain it's a serious look into the war on terror, and is not trying to give people funny ideas.
Now what do people think of this? Is it a good idea to have a fictional assination of a world leader (sic) in order to look into something more serious? Or are Channel 4 being their normal trouble-causing selves? Should Channel 4 even screen it? I myself would love to see it, but by then I am firmly established in Germany, don't suppose someone who has more4 could tape it for me? _________________ Big Brother is watching YOU! |

"The Day Britain Stood Still" was great, and took a not-too-sensationalist look at what would happen if an entirely plausible series of events unfolded on one day of bad weather causing the entire country's transportation system to basically shut down. The power one they also did was good too.
Don't know a lot about this one other than what I read in the paper but it sounds like the kind of thing that would be just as interesting if they hadn't grafted Bush's face on to their president. Why they felt the need to do that is beyond me, other than the suspicion that they did it entirely for the publicity. |

The day britain stood still one was good. They did whole series of those types of things seperate from the stood still one, but along similar lines. What would happen in the future, they did one episode about women in the future.

Well exactly, the cynic in me says that that was the reason. However there is something to be said for it hitting home more because it is a familliar face. If it was a stranger it would be more fictional, and maybe the audience would then take less notice? Also something to bear in mind is that it is set in 2007. Everyone knows Bush will still be President in 2007. So setting it then, and not putting Bush's face on it, just makes it a bit silly! _________________ Big Brother is watching YOU! |
