Well, as far as I'm aware there's a Radish editorial meeting tomorrow, and yet the expected flood of last minute articles has not yet arrived. I was expecting articles from our Radish-loving Baldsoc contingent with titles like "Let's ban fairly innocuous activities!" or "Guild Council: it's a right old barrel o' larfs (if you're anally retented)", but alas, it seems 'twas not to be.

Anyway, the utter deadness of this Articles forum since Steven called Gary Hughes a hetero (way to kill an entire forum, ya bastard!) has encouraged me to throw in a poem for consideration. It's quite silly. But it's also serious. Yup.

Ashes

The trees are on fire!
The tees are on fire!
The red of the sunset obscured by the smoke;
The water won't reach it, aim higher, aim higher!
The townsfolk, as always, display so much hope;
The embers that land on the grass don't take light,
And the curious children around don't take flight;
The trees are on fire!
The trees are on fire!

The taillights are glowing!
The taillights are glowing!
The smoke from the ashes floats by on the breeze;
Away from the problem the traffic is flowing,
They've hung all the liars, the looters, the thieves,
As the blaze is extinguished by a rising tide,
The water a good place for bodies to hide;
The taillights are glowing!
The taillights are glowing!

My breathing is choking!
My breathing is choking!
My eyes filled with tears and my tongue is cut out;
The disease in my lungs from lifetimes of smoking
Is collapsing my heart and my throat cannot shout;
And my skin is scorched black like the ground underneath,
And I will not stand up and I won't fall asleep;
My breathing is choking!
My breathing is choking!

The trees are on fire!
The trees are on fire!
The taillights are glowing, the taillights are glowing!
The water is higher, the water is higher!
My weakness is showing, my weakness is showing!
The dry land is smoking, the dry land is smoking!
My breathing is choking, my breathing is choking!
The trees are on fire!
The trees are on fire!

Why would BaldSoc want to say "Let's ban fairly innocuous activities!"? When have we said that? Lol.

Ignore him Ziggy. I have a feeling that whoever wrote that (and I have my suspicions) is a sick, controversy-seeking bastard who just wants to stir up trouble and is denigrating the art of poetry in order to post his petty quibbles in the Articles forum. We can only subvert his designs by focusing on the poetry rather than the piss-taking.

To begin with, he won't fool me into thinking that's a nine-line stanza he's got there, like he's some kind of Edmund Spenser - it's blatantly a seven-line stanza stretched over nine lines!

Yeah, I have my suspicions too. In fact, I've narrowed it down to four or five people, only one of whom posts regularly on here. I will be conducting interviews next week.
