Over the last year or so a new debate that will define the 21st century has been generated. Quite simply this debate is Facebook v MySpace. The days of religion v Science and the Telletubbies v The Tweenies are behind us. Both Facebook and MySpace are essential in the lives' of students and young people across the world, the question is which one kick ass?

Right now im still a big fan of facebook, myspace is just pretencious!

Take Facebook.

Dice it up to ruin the nice user interface and useful functions, then add some large chunks of bad embedded media content and garish backgrounds and colour schemes.

Stir in awful emo poetry, self-harming teenagers, hopeful but talentless bands and horny middle aged men who like to send pictures of their penises to women they find attractive. Make sure to add plenty of attention whoring women (and men) and 14 year old girls who are unable to properly communicate with the outside world (and shouldn't be allowed to).

Give it all a good twist so that none of the profile pictures will actually be profiles, and will instead all be viewed from oblique angles. Also increase the contrast to full.

Sprinkle with extra pretentiousness and angst. Present on a huge platter owned by News Corp.

Serves millions.

I have tried to avoid them both in an attempt to keep hold of some semblance of a life. I have largely failed in that aim, but I have still managed to keep away from MySpace and FaceBook. However, were I pushed to give an answer, MySpace is owned by Satan, so I guess FaceBook is better.

I got pushed into MySpace, I am being pushed (or have been attempted to be pushed) into Facebook, meh they're both immensely good procrastination aids, but not much else, I am on myspace but doesn't mean it's better.

I do really like Facebook, actually. I've kept/gotten back in touch with people I wouldn't otherwise have through it, and I've been to some fun parties, events and short-notice gatherings that I might not have heard about if my friends hadn't created an event on Facebook and invited some people. It's actually useful as well as fun.

And yeah, it's a great procrastination tool Smile

facebook is great for keeping in touch, but is a bit ridiculous - how many adds have you turned down?!
myspace on the other hand is not so good for uni students and doesn't provide such a good platform for popularity contests, but the inclusion of music on there is crucial. for anyone djing, making music or even artists it's a far better networking tool with much fewer limitations than facebook.

Music on Myspazz is great for upcoming artists but one of the things I like about Facebook is that it's not covered in other people's bad music and garish graphics. I can get music from as many other places as I like, or have a link/group/event posted on Facebook - why do I need the music itself on Facebook?
