Rabid Rumours
A weekly column featuring outrageous tittle tattle and sundry gossip from The Radish.
A Load of Hezbollah
Which naughty Radish poster has been polishing his gun all week? An avid fan of the boys and girls of the Israeli armed forces this tricky internet poster is the last word in armchair generalship. Sources close to the Israeli defence ministry have been heard to say that he could be made a Field Commander in the coming months. Never before has the Israeli army received such brilliant advice from an anonymous internet user.
Sources in the Israeli army have also commented on the quality of military advice on the Radish discussion board. To quote one Israeli General, "Thank goodness we have the Radish, we could not fight the war without it."
As for our favourite poster, he is beavering away on some more strategic plans for the Israeli army. Never before has a war in the Middle East been fought so well from a student bedsit in Britain!
When asked for comment Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah, said the following, "f**k the Radish. It is a zionist tool. I read Redbrick." |

Brilliant, whoever wrote this, very funny. Nice bit of self-deprecating humour never went amiss for the Radish. The poster in question may not like it. Then again maybe it is him taking the piss out of himself or perhaps his discussion opponents? This article can be intepreted in so many ways.... _________________ Big Brother is watching YOU! |

| Voila - in view this V, a voice vivified with a vicissitude of visage, vicariously vapouring in a vigilante manner, viciously casting a visibly valorous poster as a villian most virulent! Is this volition vengeance for some past vexation? A vigilante's vendetta? Verily, the value and virtue of the victim's verbiage and his unvarying veracity must vitiate the veneer of the villian's vexatious vers libre and vanquish this varmint. |

If this is about me, I'm not supportive of Israel as such, I just don't think Muslims are the innocent victims people portray them as, as a group they're generally far more intolerant than other religions (although this doesn't apply to other religions) and were founded on violence, forceably converting people and turning for example the once religiously tolerant Persia (when Zoroastrianism was state religion) into one completely intolerant extremist right wing.
I don't see how being a Muslim country justifies being bigoted extremist right wing like some people think it can.
However, people seem to claim Muslims are discriminated against here over trivial reasons while Muslim countries treat other groups horrifically and it's not on the same scale. For example Holocaust denial and Holocaust cartoons are commonplace. |

No-one on these forums supports facist regimes no matter under what religion they oppress. Islam is no better or worse than other religions. It has many varying beliefs and belivers, like all other faiths, and like other faiths it has fundamentalists. They are no better than any others, but I am sorry but Muslims are being victimised in this country, as that plane incident the other day where passangers forced the pilot to chuck to asian looking men off a plane, cos the passengers thought they were speaking arabic. Now that is a real example of Islamophobia!
Secondly, how is this about you? You weren't even posting on the forum when this was posted or when the the israel lebanon issue was being discussed. It is called SATIRE James, it is supposed to be FUNNY! You see some people can be funny in a mature by writing satirical articles, instead of pissing about at Guild Council like a certain drinking society I know! "Oh I'm being attacked by these evail lefties oh woe is me" grow up! _________________ Big Brother is watching YOU! |

I assumed it was due to a post mildly critical of Islam I made by the way, which seemed out of proportion. Glad that wasn't it.
As for growing up, I've never screwed up GC and am on Guild Exec taking it seriously.
Not so much the view on the forums, but a general view.
I disagree with chucking people off the planes, but it's a far cry from killing people for their beliefs. Still I think it was wrong, but slightly extra security on Muslims is a necessary lesser of two evils in my mind (although this doesn't include chucking Asians off planes), as no other demographic is involved at the moment, and it's better than innocent people being blown up. Although sadly it's a shame to see innocent people dragged in. |

| Also not criticising satire itself and if it's about something else fair enough. Just giving my own views on the situation from a different perspective as well. |

My a**e will it, bet every GCer's rubbing their hands at your absence .
Oh and James instead of being extra secure on Muslims, how about we stop victimising them, so they don't run into the arms of terrorists and we don't create more extremists by pissing them off. By being extra vigililant on Muslims you're fueling the extremists' arguement. By the same token by invading Muslim countries and killing their populations you also giving the extremists more strength of arguement. Result: more extremists, more bombings, more security mainly aimed at Muslims, more recruitment, more extremists, more bombings, more security, need I go on, or are we getting the picture of this vicious circle?
Yes there were extremists before 9/11, but the reaction to that made the problem worse not better, then requiring the extra security and the problems we now have. We used to have terrorists in this country before 9/11 anyway. They were called the IRA, now they didn't largely stop their terrorist activities by bombing the hell out of Northern Ireland, or by being extra secure, or by massacring the local population (bloody sunday). It eventually stopped cos people stopped shouting and shooting and started talking. Now I grant you there is not the common ground to do that with the current terrorist threat. But the principle of listening to Muslims more generally and not pissing them off you stop fuelling their rhetoric and increasing their ranks by. _________________ Big Brother is watching YOU! |

Hmm, but as someone who is flying on Sunday, I would rather they searched our bags and did all this "security" lark, rather than "talking"... |

Yeah everyone's bags, not just one section of the population. If you're going to have extra security, then it has to be applicable to everyone and not just for one group, as James seemed to be implying. Stop being facetious you knew very well what I meant. _________________ Big Brother is watching YOU! |
