My flat currently has no hot water and hasn't had any for over a week, which actually, means I can take them to court and get compensation for living in substandard conditions.

Housing and Accomodation Services are f**k filth, they are slum landlords, they treat us like scum, they send workmen round to f**k with our doors while we are out, and they alter our locks without telling us at 9am. My flat has no hot water, an ant infestation and now it has faulty doors because they decided to 'improve' the working locks so that now my door catch doesn't work. Plus even more distubingly they didn't inspect any of the boilers in maple bank, the contracters just gave out certificates without inspection the boilers, which explains why mine is broken. Vale management are a bunch of incompetent baboons.

I'm pretty certain they are in breach of a whole load of laws.

Failure to Repair essential services (hot water), infestation, disturbing my quiet enjoyment, tresspass (as they came into our rooms without out notifying us, and I'm pretty certain that issuing fraudulent gas safty certificates is a serious offence.

Well, I'm f**k fed up with it, I swear to f**k, if I'm not having a nice hot shower by monday, I will be seeking legal advice and I will kick up the biggest shit storm ever. I swear to f**k if they don't stop treating us like shit, they will f**k well regret it, theres only so far you can push a man before he breaks.

Doesn't your contract say they can enter without notifying you? And as I said before people might be more sympathetic if you cut down on the swearing and histrionics, people in Selly Oak cope without hot water for a lot longer than a week.

Oh and the thought of you breaking is quite amusing, I look forward to the rampage. I warn you now I have been twice to visit HAS in the last week, and missed them both times, I reckon they go home about 2pm or something ridiculous...

Well actually, the contract says we will be notifyed 24 hours in advance and anyway, even if it did say they can enter anytime, that would not matter as that would be an unreasonable term as it takes away our rights as tennants and so it would not be legaly binding.

I'm sure people do go without hot water for more than a week in selly oak, but I'm sure none of them pay £89 a week for it. The university have got almost 3 and a half grand off me for accomodation you would think they ought to actually at least keep thier propertys in good repair with that much cash off every student. The university should be treating it's own students better.

Oh don't worry, I do, I was just really mad when wrote that first post cos I really reallyhate cold showers.

Also, I know from the food protest that HAS staff do know what's going on on this forum and thought a bit of rigeous indignation and a hint of channeled rage would provoke some action, and well, The boiler was fixed on schedule in time for monday evening, was this a factor, who knows, well All's wel that ends well, I havn't seen any ants about today either, so hopfuly they have found the nest and nuked 'em.

Incidently if any HAS staff are reading this, I still have that food protest banner so keep improving that food, I will be heading over to sample some before the end of term and I expect it to be delicious!! Wink

I found the best way not to have the porters open my door when i was in my room, was to let them catch me doing something "undesirable".
They never came back.
The even gave me lots of space when i was moving out. Smile

I ate at Shackleton this week, and it was actually pretty nice. Surprised

I tried some food at the end of term and it was shit as ever, my friend kept insisting it was better, but she had the Halal which was always ok anyway. They still had that awfull southern fried chicken that is raw and makes everyone ill.

I ate there during campaigning for the elections and i must say i thought the food was quite nice. Although the chick pea curry i had there the year before was probably the most rancid tasting thing i have ever eaten

Some of you people don't even know you are born. The food in Shackleton is fine. Thing is most people who think it isn't are only used to mummy's food so of course its going to be different. If you don't like it then go cook your own food.

Many of us would have had we know what we would be recieving for the price that we paid. Fact is that you admit you went there once or twice. Other people were eating there 3 times a day. Funny because you once said:

Fact is that this was not 'a small group' of spoilt brats. When I started talking to people 95% of people agreed we were being overcharged for what we were recieving. All you need to do is check the other threads related to this. The number of people contributing to that thread was far higher then anything in Guild democracy. This was a reall issue on the Vale, the uni were ripping us of. I dont expect you to necessarily understand that but that is how we felt.
