I don't think Silvia and her friends are calling for complete cancellation of exams; rather that they have been given one bit of information and then a conflicting information.
International students have to take august exams in the british embassy in the capital of their home country. In Silvias case, Brazil is a prettttyyy big place.
Home students have to resit in Birmingham - if they are overseas doing camp america etc they either have to cancel that or fail the module.

Or they get told they can go away and resit the exam a year later, then the English Dept change their mind Evil or Very Mad
