|
|
On Tuesday 8th May from 6pm in the Guild (Mandela Room) we will be
holding a 'campaign briefing' for all members of the Vale Festival committee and any stewards who have been recruited by then. Other interested parties are invited to attend and contribute.
The event will involve two interactive talks by Dr. 'Jeff' Mouhot,
Birmingham Friends of the Earth Climate Change campaign co-ordinator,
and Rachel Deacon from Practical Action, a development NGO based in
Rugby doing fantastic work in developing countries. The general areas
of discussion and presentation will involve:
a)the science and policy implications of climate change,
b)impact (past, present, and future) of climate change in developing
countries,
and c)what we can do, both as individuals and citizens
d)what else vale festival can do to communicate the social justice and
environmental issues (come prepared with ideas for a quickfire
brainstorm type session)
The idea of this event is to interest and involve members of the
committee in the issue around which we have decided to base the
festival, and get them thinking about implementing them in every
aspect of (remaining) festival planning and implementation. To this
end, please make suggestions about how this proposed event could be
improved.
It is really important that as many people as possible attend this as
it has been created for your (vale festival committees) benefit! I encourage you to also invite
anybody you know who may find the event of general interest. _________________ "If you wrap the Internet around every person on the planet and spin the planet, software flows in the network."
