There was last year, but all they seemed to be interested in was putting posters up during the refreshers' fair in January, about how Cameron was doin better in the polls. That's the only time I saw them, they never seemed to be the most active society, If you want to join a society whose members declare war on political correctness, are bit anti the whole gay priest thing, are a bit of a joke, and generally seem to contain the readership of the Daily Mail, might I suggest the Before and After Lectures Drinking Society, or BALDSOC as they are so affectionately known. You'll be with like-minded people who at least do stuff (like go to FAB, go drinking and piss about at Guild Council), and what's more you wont be accused of being a liberal tory like Cameron!

Top class post Julien. From what I could see at last years Freshers' Fair the Conservatives were flooded with people who just wanted "I [heart] Boris" badges, including myself. That's probably just 'cause their party's a joke.

Surely you mean party's not parties, Steven? Come on, such appalling grammar, and from an English Student as well! Razz Laughing

They were a joke. They still are a joke really, but the problem is that they are now a joke who could win the next election, by sucking up to every cause going! Thank god the conservative future lot at our guild, are as useless as the previous four leaders of the national party. Can you imagine, the guild being run by labourites and tories? *Shudders* Laughing

Don't know what you mean Julien. On a more serious note, if I can't say t**ti**e on the Radish without it being censored, I'm not sure I want to continue living.

That's very clever editing there Steven, and the createphpbb censoring continues its relentless march. Don't suppose we could consider another hoster, that isn't as arsey?

Well this is my first time on the site, it was pointed out by a mate who is a second year medical student. I am just starting at bham, and i am glad i looked on this thread! If this is how the guild is, i will be staying out of its politics. I have read this thread and already think your a bunch of tossers, so god knows what the rest of the students think of you.

Oh and long live the Tories, much better than t he Lib Dims or New Liebour

I don't have any personal experience, but the Conservative Future group do exist and were/are fairly active; according to the *relatively* accurate list of student groups at societies fair (http://www.bugs.bham.ac.uk/freshers/sf.asp), they have a stall on Wednesday.

Why cos we dare to take the piss out of the tories? Oh sorry I do apologise to your highness if I offended your beloved party. You'll find I dislike the two major parties in nearly equal measure and the lib dems are also starting to annoy me. As for your tossers comment, frankly if you're making a such value judgement from one thread, I'm glad you wont be getting involved in guild politics any further. Not that not getting involved in guild politics is necessarily a bad thing, considering the amount of shite that does go on.

I'd be a hell of a lot more likely to vote for Boris than for Cameron. Boris for president!

I'm sure we could get a new host, but as the fella who's generally doing the internet shenanigans for the Radish, I say: can't be arsed.

And I think the Tory Boy should join in Guild politics - there's no point claiming the Tories are better then just staying out of it and spending all your time calling us tossers (which, interestingly, doesn't get censored). Being better than the Lib Dems and Labour doesn't take much: you need to prove yourself against the might of Respect, the Greens and the anarchists.

And yes, Boris is much better than Cameron. Goes without saying, really.
