Lol I did actually have a few good ideas (even Angell grudgingly accepted that and tried to get me to go and discuss it with staff, but that was the whole point, you can't get anything done in the Guild to do with student staff stuff cos everyone's frightened of their shadow when it comes to talking about staffing matters (or even their names, so ridiculous) openly). But hey, what can you do? It was close enough that I wasn't humiliated like some Baldsoc people
Not standing for non-sabb, cos I'm in Germany and I wanna do well in final year cos I've been at uni for 4 years, will be 5. Just to get a BA.
Don't wanna be an indy chair cos it would drive me insane not being able to say stuff in GC. Although they do get to hear some juicy gossip (as do their housemates)
Don't wanna be a sabb cos they all end up really fat and that's not my style. Plus I'd end up working part-time and just doing a shit job. |

Indeed we did Josh, ah I do miss those evening drinks at 31 Wallace Road.

This is the down side of being on exec, you're not allowed to work at the Guild, you can't be on any society committees. When not on exec you can have your finger in many pies (in a good way I mean) If you're a non-sabb you can argue that the disadvantages really outweigh the advantages. At least as a sabb you can commit to it fully, and not have to worry about money or getting further in debt. Non-sabb job just seems to be asking for stress, that's if you want to do it well that is. But if you believe in what you're doing, I suppose it is possible.

| Yeah I got told I'm not allowed to name staff members in exec reports but I'm allowed to give their full job title which seems odd as it's pretty obvious who say the acting general manager is. |

And a wonderful lady she is too! Although she messaged me weeks ago and hasn't replied to my reply yet.
Jules as you well know I get bored if I'm not out in the elements with the unexpected awaiting at every turn. Couldn't do a desk job for 9 months I'm afraid. Although here the most exciting thing is breaking up fights between the kids... |

| Is breaking up the fights as fun as breaking up people having sex? |

Nothing can be as fun as finding people at it in the Old Staff Room, gathering every member of the former security team, so they can watch you burst through the door and run around the room making squawking noises. Seemed to put them off their stride a little.
Although watching two Santa Clauses knocking the shit out of a load of chavs who pulled their beards has to come close...
How could I trade that for representing students yada yada yada |

Hm, yeah perhaps the Handbook link could be a bit more prominent. Steven, I'll leave that to you. Most of the important info in there (e.g. how to run a campaign) doesn't date - it's only the references to Guild positions and people that applied at the time of writing. Someone (naming no names) has been active updating it, as I don't think I wrote anything about The Radish.
I thought about making it publicly editable from the start, but figured it would be better updated by consensus - at the end of the year, the P&P group would discuss what needed to be changed with hindsight and their own experiences and then add it. I also wanted it to be very low-maintenance, as us students have little enough time to research campaigns as it is without policing a message board. _________________ We cannot choose what we are.
