Hmm, competition is tough in a lot of the categories, to quote the funky new posters: 78 nominations for 12 categories. Categories are pasted at the end of this post. Results evening itself is a lot more swish than in the last couple of years, and its been reformatted so it doesn't actually take up a near-inifinite amount of time - presentations in only three categories rather than all of them, its quasi-formal, and we get dessert (I'd turn up just for that), and its in a marquee in Mermaid Square. I think 'Outstanding Individual Student' is going to be particularly interesting - quite a few people have stood out this year for going above and beyond...

Most Outstanding Fundraiser
Most Improved Standing Society/Association
Most Improved Society
Most Outstanding New Group
Best Event
Best/Most improved Guild User
Most Organised Group
Best most improved National/Regional Achievement
Best Website
The Crash Test Dummy award for most Safety Conscious Group
The Ross Barlow memorial award for Outstanding Individual Student
Most Outstanding Student Group

Tickets are a mere £3, available from the Box Office or the Land of Opportunities (a.k.a. Basement Counter)

I've no idea who's even nominated, let alone who's going to win! I think P&P will be a hot contender for the Best Website award though. Sadly, we're all going to see Mark Steel that evening so will have to get someone to accept the award on our behalf (if we win, that is).

Anyone care to guess how long the PriceWaterhouseCoopers graduate recruitment presentation is going to last? I reckon 18 minutes.

Well done to all the winners and I hope you all had a good time with your rainbow costumes and desserts! I noticed that it took quite a lot of organising too so a big shout to those who did that!

Well the Paintball Club being national champions and setting up the first national championship and now league lost out to the LGBT's "stamp out homophobia in schools" campaign - which is fair enough, though part of me is a bit annoyed that our very different achievements were lumped together and they didn't win some separate category like "Best Campaign". Well done to them and all the winners!

I had a great night and got to wear a silly shirt, dye my hair blue and give a presentation that didn't fall completely flat on its face. Then drank lots, went to Snobs and drank lots more. So I enjoyed it Smile

The whole night was tremendously well organised and run, and well done to all involved. Shame on us student group types for not being more organised in advance and presenting a bouquet of flowers or something to the Basement staff/student development dept...

...if you liked it, please let stu (vpsa) know! I'm sure he'd appreciate some nice feedback to pass on, rather than the usual hiccups in the society system!

Paintball also claimed that night to forego a "macho Rambo image" and picked entirely unrepresentative pictures which don't show you and your boys in your true "Ultimate Force", Ross Kemp styley get-up. For turning your back on your homoerotic camo combats you deserved to lose... you could have out-gayed the gays but you spurned the opportunity...
