It just isn't very clever, Josh.
pmqs: I gather the Subway thing is almost entirely the University being shit rather than the Guild or the exec. |

| No I mean I genuinely have no idea to what it is referring - remember I'm in Germany! Is Subway shutting down or something?? |

| Subway hasn't actually opened yet, which I think is what they're referring to. And yeah, I was under the impression it was something to do with the Uni. Subway's shit anyway. What happened to #3 in this brilliant series? |

| I still don't understand. Do the uni want to open a Subway or something? I can't stand the place, it reeks of dodgy "fresh veg" out of a packet |

That strong and distinctive smell is what you get when you cook with too much SALT... _________________ "...a society that believes in nothing is particularly frightened by people who believe in anything." Bill Durodle, Director International Centre for Security Analysis, Kings College London |

Oh I thought it was the smell of cucumber.
So the uni wants to open a Subway on campus? I suppose that is a good idea. Why don't the Exec want it? |

| It's in place of the now shut chicken Joe's (with Cafe Connections being the Common Room a non-alcoholic social space). It was supposed to be in for the start of term but isn't in yet, not sure why the delay but the exec do want it in. |

During the summer, after the University pulled out all of its catering services from the Guild, an agreement was made by the Guild exec/staff with Subway that they would open a branch in what used to be the Food Court/Chicken Joe's. There was a "Subway - coming soon" sign up for ages, though no longer (most likely because it's been nicked too many times by drunk students rather than an end to the deal). Since then the University has been doing its best to block the deal, arguing that Catering Services has an exclusive license for catering on campus, which includes the Union building.
That's more or less accurate, though I don't know all the details. |

| Aston's got a Subway. But they're a better uni to be fair with a nicer union. IMHO |

I would prefer to have the uni in myself...at least we could then have some say over what food is provided. _________________ "...a society that believes in nothing is particularly frightened by people who believe in anything." The problem is that the Uni don't want to give us any catering, but want to stop us getting someone in to do it... _________________ Peter Lloyd
