Personally I believe in autonomous liberation and I think only men should post on this thread |

U know just because she said it doesnt mean that a mens association has to be set up right?
if you really feel the need to then go ahead ..... its perfectly possible with enough momentum behind it rather than constantly goin over the same points and doing nothing and effectively getting nowhere. |
No I know, don't think it's a good idea BUT it was a reason to why there isn't a men's officer (why should it be a women's officer's problem). A men's officer would be a problem as it is not the point of a liberation officer.
As for men's association, bad idea as men's liberation is not necessary BUT there should be a men specific welfare provision (as men and women have equal but often different welfare needs in my opinion), e.g. as a sub-committee of student advice, as this is the only function of an association (one of many) that would be relevant to male students. Individual campaigns would be necessary on campaigns but that doesn't mean an association is needed.
Not that I feel it is worth my while setting up a Student Advice (or wherever) men's welfare committee but it is arguably an area often overlooked by people who fear it will be used by people (who don't understand how liberation works) to try to justify an association. |
