Ohio Quiz Bowl and Academic Challenge

Let this be the announcement that FKT in the NE will be held at Olmsted Falls High School on 10/8/11.

Cost:
$40 - first team
$35 - second and subsequent teams from the same school

Discounts:
-$5 - for WORKING buzzer systems

Format is Tossup/Bonus (20 tossups/bonuses per round).

Teams bringing more than one team will be required to bring someone to read/moderate.

We will have brackets of 8, which means that the winner of each bracket will qualify for OAC Regionals. Each team is guaranteed 7 games.

There will be a JV Bracket.

Check in will be 8:00-8:30, readers meeting @ 8:30, team meeting @ 9:00 with play beginning at 9:15.

We will have lunch available....pizza, chips, apple, drink for $5.

I will post more details and an email will go out to the list of coaches that I have later this weekend.

I normally post updates for tournament sign-ups, but the end of August, my husband had by-pass surgery (6 blockages!) and I am just a little bit behind. I will send out follow-up emails this weekend.

At this point, this is the rough list of signups, as some of them are still tentative:

We will definitely have a JV bracket (possibly 2). You are welcome to bring Middle Schoolers as well. They will get the same questions, but would be in the JV bracket.

I don't think that the writer's realized that this is Yom Yippur and that it would impact the sign-ups and participation at FKT. Hopefully, we will be able to avoid this in the future.

As I had said in another thread in why I couldn't take over the direction of the proposed Zanesville mirror, Yom Kippur happens on a Saturday either 6 or 7 times in each 19-year calendar cycle. The fact that until recently, tournaments didn't happen around here this early is probably why it hadn't been considered in the past.
