Branding? Necessary? I suppose if you think some idiots going to steal your wallpaper and post it somewhere else as their own?

If you did use PS/CS3 or some other program to embed ownership properties in the file, it doesn't really take that much to get rid of it - alpha watermarks on the other hand, are a bit harder to erase.

While messing around in ACDC with your pic, it gave me an idea to make an 'Active Desktop Screensaver' that would cycle the color palette say in a GIF or other image format with a java script set to change the palette once every sec/min or at random.

And then, I had another thought - since your an up & coming shockwave programmer, you could easily make your animated wallpaper with shockwave! :P

Anyway, here's another version of Chris's WP - tweaked in ACDC:

Soon to be an Active Desktop color cycling screensaver! with your permission that is. :P

The reason for the branding was so if people were to pass it on to friends and then they pass it on, people would be awear that it was me, and they can then go on the hunt for the guy who made it.

Also dimensions messed up, it's 1280 x 1024. I seem to put 1208..

I used PS/CS4 and I am not certain on their features, It'll take time to learn them all.

Shockwave? Perhaps, but it's Flash I'm using

Active desktop wall paper you say? Go ahead

SWF! Shockwave Flash (basically the same) animated desktops are all the rage ya know!

But be warned, any who DL screen savers or Animated Desktops - beware of extra unwanted software being installed sometimes!

Various color/animation/motion scripts:
For Maya, PS and other media/graphics apps with java/shockwave/flash output.

A few links of interest: Examples & Study
http://www.bestflashanimationsite.com/archive/flash-3d/

http://www.air-atlantis.com/sito_ita/index.htm

http://jsteinkamp.com/index.htm

One example of color cycling the transparent background of a GIF image,
and I'm sure a PNG could be used as well.

http://www.geocities.com/ResearchTriangle/Lab/4841/colorcycle.html

Although, it's a palette cycle effect that I'm going to use for the wallpaper.

Anyone wanting to make their own cool wavy color desktops could use this:

a free scalable/resizable color image maker mixer.

Here is one I made with LavaLamp + Post Processing with - PS6.

Since LavaLamp outputs 16bit grayscale the images could be used in UED as terrain also, but if you take a snapshot of the screen in 32bit or more the resulting pic has a lot of depth!

Made another!

This one was made when I was inspired by a guy who goes by the name of 'Khin Hooi', who produced similar art. He explained how he made the peice and I went ahead and created 'my version'.

Technical Information:

Produced on Photoshop CS4
Dimensions 1280 x 1024
Distribution Unlimited
Was listening to:
Solid Inc - What I Found (Sets my mood ^.^ :3)

And the info on the bottom is hidden by the task bar.

Enjoy!

By hspchris at 2009-01-30

I apologize for the inconvenience of 'stretching' the forum.

I love to create abstract art using Photoshop, the feeling of having completed the peice is rewarding, especially if you know people enjoy it as well as use it.

I enjoy art, dispite my want to become a Games Designer, I make images that I like, see the one above, in a hope that other people will like them.

I plan to continue to make different types of art of which I will share with you all. Please, if you have ideas, share them!

Constructive critisism welcomed.

Chris.

I've always been partial to abstract art & wallpapers, especially smooth
glass types with reflections and highlights.
:P

I used to sculpt, smooth freeform soapstone statues buffed with a
high glaze polish so the available lighting would create cool abstract reflections.

BTW, I had to turn off the page style to read your post -
It hurt my eyes so much trying.

Also, what do you think to the picture?

Critique for flower1fb9.png:

For my tastes in wallpapers, it is a bit dark around the edges and the
highlight is a tad strong. You did end up with a small area of pixelation
in the lower middle area, and it doesn't seem to have much depth - so
you might try adding a few layers, but the overall composition is nice.

IMO, if you added some detail or abstract depth (ie. parts that seem to
flow over and behind other elements in the scene - it might give it some
interesting details to look at.

Thanks again

Sadly though, I only have paint and photo Editor, so it's not as good as it could be. But I like it XD

I believe because he didn't delete the copyright, and isn't trying to pass
it off as his - it seems to me that an artist would love seeing his
artwork enjoyed by the masses! 'Unaltered'

Interesting to say the least. How did you make it?

BTW, if you did a search for graphics programs here on the forum - you would have found the many links I have posted for free or shareware programs to do many different things related to graphics! ;)

Some are free and some are 30 day trials, but you can still make stuff with them, and there are so many different ones - it would take awhile to run out of time on each one. :P
