I'm going to try a vendor other than BSD for my next custom. Any one have any opinions on any of the other companies?
I sort of have my own opinions and experiences but I'd like to know what other people think. I rode customs from both Custom X and Toobs back in the day, but don't know much about their current quality and output other than the boards I've seen that Wagner and imaroxstar got. What I can tell from the web is that a Custom X will be slightly cheaper but with a longer turnaround than Toobs. Is that right?
Is there another US company to look at? Any one try JL? Vortex?

| ballistic! got my one and only custom from them about 3 yrs ago. very similar to dubs board dimensions. lasted me the longest of any boards, prob almost 3 yrs. excellent materials and craftsmanship. now im just saving up again for another. carlos is the man. he makes sure the board u get is best suited for ur individual needs.

| Custom JL's via ebodyboarding are the cheapest I could find for a Polypro core w/one stringer, channels, and thumb grips.

| Let us know how the JL turns out if you get one. I've been considering a custom too. I'll check out Ballistic too.

Anything made in the usa is good and most of the comapnies use the same materials...hear nothing but good things about toobs, JL, and custom x...I tried to order a custom ballistic, talked to carlos about the board and everything but he never got back to me...bad service man I hate that. Same thing with vortex I heard, flaky. You will see my mini hubb custom on saturday with deck contours, stringer, and graphic...the contours gives me a damn kung-fu grip,I love it.
If anything bro, look at some stock boards, some look really good.

If you order a custom board by CUSTOM X, PMA himself will make it for you. Last boards from CUSTOM X I got are custom made, but not by PMA, another shaper that makes boards for the team, same quality as tock boards.
JL is a great shaper, I know about his work for a long time, Cris Hilton, SCIENCE Bodyboards co-owner or CEO, recommended him to me years ago. |

| I get all my boards made by Dan Sivess at NMD. My brother Damian was riding one of his Customs in the contest at the weekend.

Will they make a PP core w/one stinger, channels, a bat tail, and include shipping for less than $260US?
Four US companies make customs for $260US or less: BSD, Toobs, Custom X, and JL Designs.

If they are coming from outside of the US they probably cost an arm and a leg. Custom QCDs cost something like $330US before international shipping costs. Most of the US companies include shipping in the price.

I'm going to stick to something made domestically.

| Alright so I went with Toobs. Put my order in last night. Talked to Marcos this morning. Board was made and shipped TODAY. Board should be arriving next Tuesday. Unbelievable turnaround time.
